Haircare: What Men Really Use

Last week we looked at skincare, this week I’ve asked five of my favourite bloggers about their must-have haircare products. From creating texture with styling products, to locking-in your look with finishing sprays, here’s the products boys are really using right now:

Iwan Carrington / www.mrcarrington.co.uk

My hair is naturally poker straight so certain styles can be tricky to achieve! Day to day I go for what I would call a casual quiff; I usually blow dry it, then add some styling powder to give it some texture and volume, and finish it with hairspray. The product I keep returning to, and use every day is the got2b Glued Blasting Freeze Spray by Schwarzkopf. I always use hairspray to finish a style and I find this one locks my style into place instantly (hence the blasting freeze I guess!) and lasts all day, without causing it to drop or altering the appearance and texture of my hair too much. I first discovered it when I saw it being used on a shoot, because I loved the smell!

My favourite hair product has to be the V05 – ‘Thicken Up/Lifting Paste’ because my hair is quite thin, so I have found the paste to give a boost of volume and helps to keep it in place all day long.

My favourite hair styling product is also the V05 Extreme Style Thicken Up lifting paste. That name couldn’t be longer if it tried. My hair is already very thick, but I only need a small amount of this to slick my hair up or back all day, I swear by it much more than anything high end I’ve tried or had applied in a barbers or salon.

I’m currently going though a phase of trying new products but I’m currently loving the Fish Soho paste matte clay as it smells great, is easy to work with and washes out easily which is a must have in any hair product.

My Choice

As my hair gets longer, it needs more specialist care. To protect from dry, split ends I’ve been using the Matrix Moisture Me Rich shampoo and conditioner. My stylist recently moved to a new salon where they stock the Matrix range, so I was first introduced to this at the shampoo bowel during my last cut, I instantly loved the results, so left with two salon sized bottles to keep my look smooth and sleek.
